What is “Resolution” in gaming?

Display resolution is the number of pixels a screen is displaying at any given moment. The resolution is set in height x width parameters and is responsible for the visual quality of gameplay, which includes the details and sharpness displayed while playing. Most modern games require high display resolution, which allows a great gaming experience.

Most economical gaming monitors support 1080p (p stands for progressive scan) and up to 1440p. Lower resolution does not demand more from the graphics card, which can provide a smooth playing experience at a high refresh rate, such as 120Hz. On the other hand, higher resolution can provide an in-depth and richer experience, but at the same time demands more power from the hardware. If you own a high-quality 4K (240Hz) gaming monitor like below, then you probably need a better gaming PC.
